Getting Started

How do I create an account on Gigvo?

Click "Sign Up" in the top right corner of any page and choose whether you're joining as a client (to hire freelancers) or as a freelancer (to find work). You'll fill in your basic details, verify your email address, and your account will be ready to use immediately. You can complete your full profile — including skills, portfolio, or company details — any time after signing up.

What's the difference between a client and freelancer account?

A client account is for hiring — you'll post jobs, browse freelancer profiles, and manage projects you've outsourced. A freelancer account is for finding work — you'll build a profile showcasing your skills and portfolio, browse job listings, and submit proposals. Some people use both: if you hire out occasionally and also do freelance work yourself, you can switch between roles from your account settings.

How do I post my first job?

From your dashboard, click "Post a Job." Give it a clear title, describe the outcome you need (not just a task list), specify your budget range and timeline, and choose the relevant category and skills. The more specific your post, the better the proposals you'll receive. Once published, freelancers can start submitting proposals right away, and you can review profiles, portfolios, and past reviews before choosing who to hire.

For Clients

How much does it cost to post a job?

Posting a job is free — you only pay once you hire and start working with a freelancer. Gigvo charges a service fee on payments made through the platform, which covers secure payment processing, dispute protection, and platform support. There's no cost to post, browse proposals, or message freelancers before you decide to hire.

How do I choose the right freelancer for my project?

Look beyond just the lowest bid. Review each freelancer's portfolio for relevant past work, read client reviews for patterns (not just star ratings), and check their proposal for whether they addressed your specific brief. A short intro call or a small paid test project can also help you gauge communication style and fit before committing to a larger engagement.

Can I hire the same freelancer for multiple projects?

Yes — many clients build an ongoing relationship with a freelancer they trust. You can invite a freelancer you've worked with before directly to a new job, or simply message them to discuss new work. Repeat engagements are common on Gigvo and often lead to faster turnaround, since the freelancer already understands your brand and workflow.

For Freelancers

How do I create a winning freelancer profile?

Start with a clear, specific headline that states what you do rather than a generic title — "React developer specializing in e-commerce dashboards" beats "Web Developer." Write a summary focused on outcomes you deliver, not just your background. Upload a professional profile photo, add 3-5 strong portfolio samples relevant to the work you want, and list your core skills accurately. Profiles with complete details and real work samples consistently get more views and proposals.

How do I get my first client on Gigvo?

Complete your profile fully before applying to jobs — clients skip incomplete profiles almost instantly. Start by applying to a handful of jobs that closely match your actual skills and experience, and write a short, specific proposal for each one rather than a generic template. Being competitive on price for your first few projects can help you build initial reviews, which then make it much easier to win better-paying work afterward.

Can I work with clients outside of Gigvo after we connect?

Gigvo's terms ask that active engagements found through the platform be conducted and paid through Gigvo, since that's what enables payment protection, dispute resolution, and verified reviews for both sides. Many freelancers and clients do continue working together on future projects — simply keep those bookings on-platform too, and you'll both stay covered by Gigvo's protections the whole time.

Payments & Billing

What payment methods does Gigvo support?

Gigvo supports major credit and debit cards, along with other secure payment options available at checkout, so clients can fund projects easily and freelancers get paid reliably. All payments are processed through Gigvo's secure payment system, which holds funds safely until work is approved and released. You can view and manage your accepted payment methods from your account's billing settings.

When do freelancers get paid?

When a client funds a project, payment is held securely until the agreed work is delivered and approved. Once you and the client mark milestones or the project as complete, funds are released to your account and become available for withdrawal. Exact processing times can vary slightly depending on your payout method, but funds are typically available shortly after release.

What are Gigvo's service fees?

Gigvo charges a service fee on completed transactions, which is automatically deducted before funds are released. This fee covers secure payment processing, dispute protection, and ongoing platform support. There are no hidden charges — the fee is shown clearly at checkout and in your transaction history, so you always know exactly what you're being charged before a project begins.

Trust & Safety

How does Gigvo verify freelancers and clients?

All users confirm their identity through email verification when signing up, and Gigvo reviews profiles for suspicious or misleading information before they're fully activated. Freelancer reviews and ratings from past clients are visible on every profile, giving you an ongoing track record beyond initial signup. Gigvo also monitors for policy violations on an ongoing basis and takes action on accounts that violate platform guidelines.

What happens if there's a dispute between a client and freelancer?

Most disagreements are resolved directly between the client and freelancer through clear communication, and Gigvo encourages trying that first. If you can't reach an agreement, Gigvo's support team can step in to review the project details, messages, and delivered work to help mediate a fair resolution. Because payments are held securely until work is approved, neither side loses funds while a dispute is being reviewed.

How do I report suspicious activity or a policy violation?

If you notice a fake profile, a request to pay outside the platform, or any behavior that seems misleading or unsafe, use the "Report" option available on that user's profile or job post, or contact support@gigvo.io directly with details. Gigvo's team reviews every report and takes appropriate action, which can include warnings, suspension, or permanent removal from the platform depending on the severity of the violation.
